Adopting Nela in 2009 changed our understanding of life with dogs. That deep bond gave rise to Brott and, today, a charity campaign to give greyhounds back some of what they have given us.
Some dogs come into your life to accompany you.
Others come to support you.
Our history with greyhounds began in 2009, long before Brott existed as a brand, long before we thought about collars, design or projects with animals. It began with a cinnamon-coloured greyhound named Nela and an unexpected exchange of glances at the entrance to a veterinary clinic in Manresa.
Nela, the greyhound who stole our hearts
Nela was three or four years old when we adopted her directly from Seproan Sallent. There was no long process or rational decision. We simply crossed paths with her, she looked at us... and we knew she was already part of our lives.
Nela was pure love. A calm, confident, deeply kind greyhound. She was, without knowing it, our first great teacher.
With her, we discovered something that you only understand when you live with a dog from that deep place: animals don't come by chance. They come when you need them. They come to accompany you, but also to support you in moments when you don't even know you need it.
The bond you form with a greyhound is special. They are sensitive, observant, quiet dogs. They don't invade your space, but they are there. They don't demand, but they support. And Nela did everything with a natural elegance that left a lasting impression on us.
Brot, an earthquake full of life

A year later, in 2010, Brot arrived. He was six months old and came from a foster home in Manresa, with Carla and Gerard, two generous people who wanted to care for greyhounds while they waited for their forever family.
When we saw him, my heart melted. Brot was the complete opposite of Nela. A puppy without any trauma, full of energy, running non-stop, standing up on his hind legs to go faster, pure impulse and curiosity. A real whirlwind. Because yes, greyhounds are like that when they are young, even if it is not always said.
With Brot, we learned another great truth: adoption also involves responsibility and awareness. Greyhounds need time, dedication, training and presence to become well-balanced dogs. They are not just beauty and sweetness, they are character, movement and life.
Nela accepted him from the very beginning. And we grew with them, learning to accompany two different energies, two ways of being in the world, one and the same bond.
When a personal story becomes a purpose

In August 2018, three months after saying goodbye to Nela, Penny arrived. A foster home had rescued her from the Nacional II motorway in Madrid. She was curled up in a ball on the hard shoulder when a kind person stopped and picked her up. She was only three months old. She ended up at Estefanía's house, in a village near Madrid.
We spoke on the phone. And we knew.
We went up for a weekend, made a quick trip, and came home with her. Penny was a neighbourhood princess, smart as a whip, alert, lively. She came to fill a different place, not replacing anyone, but bringing her own light.
With Brot, it wasn't immediate. He was grieving. And Penny, with surprising emotional intelligence, respected that. For six months she waited, watched, and slowly approached him. Until they became inseparable.
Today Brot is 14 years old. He is a grandfather with joint pain, tremors in his hind legs, and little desire to run. Penny doesn't know how to live without him. She encourages him to play, to run, to keep going. They take care of each other. They accompany each other. They support each other.
Greyhound Day: a campaign born out of connection

Greyhound Day is not just any date for us. It is a day of remembrance, gratitude and responsibility.
That is why, from 1st to 15th February, at Brott we are launching a very special charity campaign: 10% of the price of all martingale collars for greyhounds will be donated to the Alerta Galgos animal shelter.
This is not a promotion. It is a logical consequence of our history. We believe in brands that give back, in projects that get involved, in decisions that have a real impact.
Adoptar es también posicionarse

Talking about adopting greyhounds means talking about awareness, respect and time. It means understanding that living with a dog is a decision that will transform your life. It involves emotion, bonding and presence.
Greyhounds taught us to slow down, listen more and design from the heart. Brott would not exist without Nela, Brot and Penny. They are part of our history and everything we do.
If you choose a Brott martingale collar today, you are also choosing to be part of a story of respect for a breed that has given us much more than we could ever give back.
Thank you for being here.
Thank you for adopting.
Thank you for looking at greyhounds with the same eyes they look at us with.
Do you live with a greyhound? Then you know what we're talking about. And if not, maybe this is a good way to start helping now ❤️
